Designed in Switzerland

Switzerland, as a standard

A Swiss house is not recognised by a cross on a label, but by a way of working: precise, discreet, enduring.

I
Precision

To a tenth of a millimetre

In Switzerland, things are measured. Watches, trains, mountain bridges: everything is a matter of fit, tolerance and patience.

Our box is the example. Between its lid and its collar we left 0.2 millimetres of clearance: enough for the air to hold the lid, which then sinks slowly on its own; not enough for it to float.

We apply that precision to every drawing, every colour, every number.

II
Discretion

Luxury that does not show off

Our boxes are quiet on the outside: ivory, a debossed name, no slogan. The mosaic appears only when you open them.

It is a very Swiss idea of luxury. What matters is discovered, not displayed.

That is why we write “Designed in Switzerland” and never “Swiss Made”.

Swiss law

Why we do not write “Swiss Made”

Since 1 January 2017, the Swiss “Swissness” legislation has strictly governed the use of the Swiss cross and the words “Swiss Made”. For an industrial product, at least 60% of manufacturing costs and the essential manufacturing step must take place in Switzerland.

Our squares are printed in Italy. So we follow the rule to the letter: Switzerland is where they are imagined, designed and numbered, and that is exactly what we say.

Precise as a watch, discreet as a lake in winter.
