Maryna Svistunova

A passion for beauty, lit by art, music and architecture. And a city, Barcelona, where light passes through glass like a score.

The eye

Seeing beauty everywhere

Maryna looks at the world the way one walks through a museum: a facade, a melody, light on stone. She stops where others walk past. Every encounter leaves her with a colour, a rhythm, an idea.

II
Barcelona

The city that ripples

She lived in Barcelona. There, walls ripple, the balconies of Casa Batlló look like masks and ceramics dress the facades like jewellery. Beauty is not locked away in museums: it is in the street, overhead, underfoot.

III
Gaudí

Shards that sing

Gaudí's architecture inspired her in particular. In Park Güell, a long bench ripples above the city, covered in trencadís: fragments of broken ceramic, each imperfect on its own, gathered into a whole that comes alive. Gaudí left his mark on Barcelona, and on her mind.

IV
Light

When light becomes music

In the Sagrada Família, columns branch out like trees and the stained glass paints the stone in colours that change with the hours. At the Palau de la Música Catalana, a golden skylight floats above the musicians. Art, music and architecture answer one another, as they do in her mind.

V
The idea

Silk, composed like a mosaic

From these encounters came a certainty: to design silk squares the way one composes a mosaic. Thousands of tesserae, each in its place, to tell the story of a place, a light, an emotion. This is how MINERINO began.

Three places, one emotion

The house that breathes

Gaudí reshaped Casa Batlló between 1904 and 1906. Hardly a line in it is straight: the balconies look like masks, the roof like the back of a dragon covered in ceramic scales. You don't look at it, you read it, from the ground up.

A bench facing the sea

On the park's great square, a bench winds for about a hundred metres, dressed entirely in trencadís. Barcelona spreads out below, the Mediterranean closes the horizon. Every shard was set by hand, and no two are alike.

A work still growing

Begun in 1882, the basilica occupied Gaudí for more than forty years and is still unfinished. Inside, light from the stained glass slides across the stone and changes colour with the hours. You come in for a visit and leave with a palette.

Trencadís

Breaking to bring together

Trencadís is made from broken ceramics: tiles, plates, shards of every colour, set by hand into mortar. No fragment is perfect, and it is how they come together that makes the work.

Maryna has kept that lesson. Every MINERINO square is a mosaic of thousands of tesserae: up close, flecks of colour; from afar, a garden, a shore, a light.

Music

Beneath a sun of glass

At the Palau de la Música Catalana, opened in 1908, a great skylight of gold and blue descends from the ceiling like an upturned sun. By day, the hall is bathed in natural light.

Music

Composing, like a melody

Music is one of Maryna's passions. A melody is built note by note, a mosaic tessera by tessera. Her squares follow the same rule: a rhythm, pauses to breathe, a colour that returns like a refrain.

From sketch to silk

The making of a square

01

The sketch

It all begins in a notebook: a facade, a garden, a light, set down in colour before they fade.

02

The composition

The motif is laid tessera by tessera, thousands of times, until the whole design breathes.

03

The silk

The design is printed in Italy on a 90 × 90 cm silk square that keeps every nuance.

04

The box

Each square goes into its box, with its tissue paper and numbered card.

Silk

The moment the design comes alive

Folded, a square is only a promise. Unfold it in the light and the thousands of tesserae stop being shards: the heron rises, the water stirs, the lotus flowers open. Every MINERINO design is composed for that moment.

A light that runs through the collection

The Mediterranean runs through the whole collection: the golden light of terraces, painted tiles, gardens and shores. From the Alps to the gardens of Barcelona, every chapter is a journey.
